The short answer

A secondary pan or float switch is there because condensate can damage the building if the primary drainage path fails. If the pan is wet or the system shuts off, do not treat the switch as a nuisance. Turn the cooling system off if appropriate, protect the area below, and identify whether the water is from the drain, coil, pan, or a separate leak.

Do not open refrigerant circuits or electrical panels. Keep the access area safe, note the date and weather, and photograph the pan without leaning on ductwork. Ask the service provider to identify the water source, verify the drain slope and termination, test the switch, and explain the repair rather than simply resetting it.
