The short answer

Choose a washer supply hose by verified connector fit, pressure rating, condition, and routing—not by braid color. Rubber hoses can age, while braided hoses can still kink, corrode at the connector, or rub against the cabinet. Because a washer supply is pressurized even when the machine is idle, a small defect can become a large release.

Inspect before comparing materials

Reduce the consequence of failure

Keep the shutoff accessible, avoid storing items that block it, and inspect the connections after the first cycle and again after the machine has been idle. A pan, leak sensor, or automatic shutoff can reduce damage but cannot fix a deteriorating hose.
