Draw the water path
Start at the unit outlet and trace every inch to the final drain. The path needs a compatible connection, continuous slope for gravity drainage, no sag that becomes a trap, and an outlet that cannot back up into the machine. If the route rises, check whether the unit supports a pump or requires a separate condensate pump.

Do not defeat a float, overflow sensor, or safety shutoff. Persistent water around the unit is a stop condition, not proof that a larger hose will solve the route.
Limits
No dehumidifier or drain route was tested. Exact hose diameter, maximum lift, pump behavior, and electrical requirements are model-specific.
